Swimwear and Beachwear Edit

It's that lovely time of year when we're planning escapes to the sunshine (or lucky enough to be doing so already).  Not only does this mean blissful R&R but also the lovely chance to top up your swimwear and beachwear wardrobe.  Below I've put together my edit of swimsuits, bikinis, cover ups plus some beauty and accessories.

So sit down, relax and let's dream of summer!

Swimsuits & Bikinis

Norma Kamali Striped Cut Out Bandeau Swimsuit £125.00 at Net a Porter

New Yorker, Norma Kamali has been designing beautiful swimwear since the 1970s and her high octane ranges have been so compelling, she's exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  This piece from Net a Porter is classic in its monochrome print but the edgy cut outs give it a super flattering look.

Emma Pake Monica Bandeau Swimsuit £225.00 at Selfridges

I love a white swimsuit moment on holiday, especially when the tan is starting to develop.  I like the classiness of a one piece for this so I was really delighted when I found this gorgeous little number by British brand, Emma Pake at Selfridges.  The rainbow waist and bust lines make it super flattering and the adjustable straps give you lots of options.

Watercolour Print Bikini Top £19.99 and Bottoms £15.99 by Oysho

Oysho is part of the Inditex group which also has Zara and Massimo Dutti as part of it's portfolio.  This brand specialises in swimwear, beachwear, nightwear, activewear and lingerie.  I bought a bikini and beach towel from here last summer for a friend's girls holiday and was delighted with the fit, quality and price.  I've since recommended it to a few friends who have been equally as pleased.  This cute print two-piece is a nice bright option.  The triangle style has no underwire making it soft and easy to wear and the bikini fastens at the front for ease when dressing.

Rosie For Autograph Elongated Triangle Side Preformed Cup in Foil Print £29.50 with Matching Solid Hipster Pant with Hardware Detail £22.50 both at M&S

I love the Rosie for Autograph range at M&S.  It feels really luxurious, the designs are modern and considered and the quality is fantastic.  I love this foil two piece when I saw it.  Both the top and the bottom are well sculpted to be super flattering and the hardware detail makes it feel really special.  A glamorous and well-priced option.

L'Agent by Agent Provocateur Alenya Cutout Bikini £95 at Net a Porter

A black two piece is another staple that with good care will last for years.  I loved this option from L'Agent with it's cheeky cut out details and adjustable straps.  The sculpting mesh fabric is gentle and flattering and this piece will work on any type of holiday with ease.

Cover Ups

Koza Printed Jersey Tank £75.00 at Net a Porter

I'm a big fan of a couple of easy to wear throw on tees for when the sun is hot or you want something easy to throw on with your denim shorts.  This tank from Koza is fun and cheeky.  Made from a soft jersey blend, it's comfortable to wear and the tank details flatter.

Replay Off the Shoulder Stripe Playsuit £115.00 at ASOS

This linen-mix playsuit is the perfect throw on cover up to take you to lunch or an apres-beach bar after a day in the sun.  It's a lovey length, really light and comfortable to wear plus the stripe has a lovely côte d'azur feel.

Printed Sarong in Powder/Palm Leaf Print £8.99 by H&M

The sarong is back ladies and I'm personally rather delighted.  They are quite possibly the most versatile pieces to have in your beach bag.  Throw round your waist as a skirt, tie over your bust for a strapless dress feel or wrap around your head as a bandana for sun protection.  H&M have lots of colour options but I really liked this pretty pink version - it's a great price too.

Crochet Tunic £19.99 by Oysho

Another little gem from Oysho.  This sweet tunic is gently cut to be super flattering on all body shapes.  I love the frilled hems and sleeves which give it a nice finish.  Wear with a bold piece underneath, matching with a pair of great slides and a large beach bag.

Rosie for Autograph Playsuit Cover Up £45.00 at M&S

I first saw this piece in the Marble Arch store last weekend and love it.  The print is lovely and modern and the soft modal fabric felt really good quality, draping beautifully.  I liked the way it can be worn on or off shoulder and has a smart yet casual look.

Beauty

Cleanance SPF 50 by Avene available from Amazon £17.46

I'm a huge advocate of high SPF, especially for face during the summer months.  The only issue is that the pore-clogging ingredients have an adverse effect on my skin leaving it a little spotty and irritated.  This new range from Avene is fantastic - it contains all the good SPF protection without causing irritability or skin issues.

Vita Liberata Ten Minute Tan £30.00 at Boots

I love using a fake tan from May to start building up a summer look.  I've tried loads over the years but recently purchased Vita Liberata's ten minute tan based on the hundreds of great beauty reviews I've read.  I was not disappointed, it's fabulous and leaves a lovely natural yet glowing look, even on my pale skin.  The idea is you put it, wait up to 20 minutes depending on how dark you would like it (I only wait for 10) and then wash off with water.  It develops over time so if  you do this in the morning you're set for the evening.  It's fab!

Clarins Sun Care Cream High Protection For Sun Sensitive Skin UVB 30 £21.00 from Boots

I used to suffer terribly with prickly heat and reaction to the sun on holiday.  I develop quite a nice tan now but I prefer a high SPF and a product that ranges any sensitivity.  This one from Clarins is so good and I've recommended it countless times over.  It's really gentle, soaks in well and has the added benefit of protecting your skin against the drying effects of salt water.  I won't go away without this now.

Philip Kingsley Citrus Sunshine Swimcap Cream £13.00 from Net a Porter

Anyone with coloured hair will either have to swim with your head awkwardly sticking out of the water or spend your holiday with a hat on.  The sun, salt water and chlorine can all be pretty damaging to your hair.  Hair guru Philip Kingsley's cult classic Swim Cap has had a lovely scent makeover, with a lovely citrus, rose and bergamot scent.  Simply apply and comb through damp hair.  My favourite part is that my hair comes back from holiday in better condition than before!

Charlotte  Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette £49.00 from Cult Beauty

I'm right into multi-tasking palettes for going on holiday and keeping my makeup bag down to a few simple yet effect products.  This palette from Charlotte Tilbury covers eyes, cheeks, bronze and highlights in one compact.  The colours are lovey and give a naturally enhanced look, perfect for summer nights.  All you need to finish is some CC cream, mascara and a gloss and you're good to go.

Accessories

Straw Pamela Hat £19.99 by Mango

I spotted this hat in the Westfield Branch of Mango in early April and grabbed it, knowing it would soon disappear.  I love a straw hat in the summer.  Not only does it give me extra protection from the sun on my face but my blonde hair seems to attract sun and gets extremely hot.  This therefore means I've become somewhat of an expert on good summer hats.  This has a great 'flop factor' meaning that it sits really nicely - not too stiff and not dripping down your face!

Monki 'Escape' Beach Tote £20.00 at ASOS

I tend to buy a new beach bag almost every year because (inevitably) they get wrecked on holiday with sand, suncream and general abuse.  The high street has a great offering and I love this one from Monki at ASOS.  The handle shape is really practical and will stay on, even over the slinkiest of beach cover ups.  It has a practical zipped pocket inside for hotel keys and small valuables plus plenty of space for towels, beauty products, magazines and books.

Taylor Morris x Morgan Motor HFS Club Master Style Sunglasses £240.00 at Harvey Nichols

I spotted this brand last Summer at Polo in the Park at the Fulham Hurlingham Club and really liked what they were doing.  It's a British brand, just three years old and founded by Charlie Morris and Hugo Taylor.  After the polo I went online and discovered they had their ranges in Harvey Nichols and recently collaborated with Morgan Motors in this lovely collection.  This piece is exclusively sold at Harvey Nichols and at £240 they aren't cheap but they are beautiful, modern yet classic and the navy lenses are fully polarised.
